First Generation Basics

For older Revels with AGM batteries or early lithium packs, RoamRig’s first‑generation upgrade is a complete overhaul. It removes the stock parts and installs four to six Lithionics batteries, a 3 kW pure sine inverter, a 750W MPPT/alternator charger and, on higher stages, a dedicated auxiliary alternator.

Stage 1 – 420Ah: four batteries and the core system. Run the A/C for four hours and recharge overnight from shore power

Stage 2 – 420Ah: with fast charge: adds the auxiliary alternator so you can recharge in under two hours and run the A/C while driving.

Stage 3 – 630 Ah: adds six batteries for 630Ah total and boosts air‑conditioner run time to six hours.

The upgrade also moves the battery switch to the main panel, engraves all switches and includes an automatic 12V disconnect.

Second Generation Basics

Later Revels already have Lithionics batteries, but many owners need more capacity and a better alternator. The 2nd Gen upgrade adds two or three Lithionics batteries (130Ah each), a Kisae 3kW inverter with 100A shore charger, a 750W DC‑DC/MPPT charger and a larger auxiliary alternator. It also replaces the control panel with simpler, labeled switches.

Base System – 520Ah: two extra batteries for roughly 500Ah total and the upgraded inverter/charger. Run the A/C for about four hours while using the induction cooktop.

Base System Plus – 650Ah: adds a fifth battery for about 650Ah. Better if you camp in hot weather or work from your van. Already have a third battery?: RoamRig gives you a credit and reuses it.

If you need even more storage, you can add a 3rd battery kit yourself or upgrade to the 960Ah system used in the 3rd Gen vans.

Third Generation Basics

The newest package is built around two 320Ah batteries for a total of 960Ah. It comes with a 3kW inverter, a 750W alternator/solar charger, a Victron battery monitor and a new control panel. A larger 250A alternator replaces the stock 170 A unit to charge the big battery bank quickly.

Base System – 960Ah: run the air conditioner for six to nine hours and charge while driving or on shore power. Owners converting a 2021–2023 van need to budget an extra $6,500 because the old batteries must be removed.

The 960Ah system has as much storage as many high‑end adventure vans and is ideal for full‑time travelers or those who rely on electric heat and A/C.
